Ghost of Yotei will feature a Kurosawa mode, returning from Ghost of Tsushima, and will include modes inspired by directors Takashi Miike and Shinichirō Watanabe. Miike’s mode provides an intimate look at battle sequences with increased mud and blood splatter. Watanabe’s inclusion brings original lo-fi tracks to the game’s soundtrack. The protagonist, Atsu, has a diverse arsenal of weapons and can team up with other characters, such as a wolf. Limited-edition PS5 bundles will also release alongside the game on October 2.
In 2020, Sucker Punch struck a deal with the estate of the late Samurai film director, Akira Kurosawa, to bring a black-and-white Kurosawa mode into Ghost of Tsushima.
Ghost of Yotei's devs disclosed a partnership with 13 Assassins director Takashi Miike for another mode which brings players a more intimate glimpse of the battle sequences.
The dev team noted that Watanabe actually directed his mode in the game, which adds some original lo-fi tracks to Ghost of Yotei's soundtrack.
Atsu is also able to align herself with other characters, including a wolf, as she utilizes a diverse arsenal of weapons.
