The previous 14-day trial was revamped into a version without a time limit, allowing players to explore Vana’diel freely. The level cap for trial players increased to level 75. Trial access is limited to the base game rather than the expansions, though players can continue playing after reaching level 75. Square Enix also released an animated short covering aspects of the game’s 24-year history. Final Fantasy IX’s 25th anniversary included rumors of a modern remake, with no confirmation yet. Final Fantasy XIV is scheduled to come to Switch 2 in August, and a single-player version was considered but not pursued due to the team’s focus on maintaining the online world.
