"This is true for general career progression, but it is especially brutal for weapon progression. As we point out in our Battlefield 6 tips, it's going to take most players many hours to level up one weapon and get a moderate number of core attachments. But there's a solution. Sort of. Just as quickly as they started getting frustrated by the exceptionally low weapon XP earn rate in Battlefield 6, clever players started devising solutions."
"These can offer slight modifications on existing maps and modes - such as an infantry-only variant of Conquest, or a server that runs a specific map 24/7. But custom servers can also be used to practice against bots, or create an impromptu co-op game for you and your friends where you can turn BF6 into a PvE shooter. If you don't modify too many of the rules, the game will award full XP to anyone playing on your Portal server."
Battlefield 6 launched with strong reception but features an exceptionally slow XP grind, with weapon progression particularly time-consuming and requiring many hours to unlock core attachments. Portal mode enables custom servers and rule modifications, including minor map and mode tweaks, bot practice, and cooperative PvE setups. When rules are not overly changed, the game awards full XP, including Challenges, career, and weapon progression, allowing rapid advancement. Players create high-ticket, small-map, bot-heavy servers—often using Breakthrough—to maximize XP efficiency. Similar XP-farming approaches existed in Battlefield 2042's Portal, and players use these servers to complete situational Challenges for Training Paths.
