Dune: Awakening, a survival MMO based on Frank Herbert's Dune, launched recently, and players quickly identified a broken strategy in PvP involving Ornithopter vehicles. In the Deep Desert, where players engage in fierce battles for the valuable resource, Spice, some players have faced relentless assaults from oceanic flying machines, leading to repeated deaths and frustration. Funcom's Joel Bylos acknowledged the issue, promising an urgent fix as the community highlighted that Ornithopters should sustain damage from ground impact, calling for a necessary balance within the game mechanics.
One player took to the Dune: Awakening subreddit and posted a video of their plight, showing user Bombe18 repeatedly crushed by an Ornithopter.
Funcom's Joel Bylos responded, stating "Sorry about this. We have people working on fixing the goomba stomping ASAP."
Players have tools to deal with vehicles, such as explosive weaponry, but the crashing Ornithopters create an imbalance that needs fixing.
Players on Reddit agree Ornithopters should be taking damage from ramming into the ground at high speeds, indicating a broken strategy.
