Don't Expect A New Dead Space Game Anytime Soon
"Insider Gaming states that EA sources have informed them about the latest Dead Space direction--or lack of direction, in this case. In early 2023, a remake of Dead Space was released, making people speculate about a new sequel or future remakes. But instead, there reportedly won't be any sort of followup anytime soon. GameSpot has reached out to EA for comment."
"The report adds that the same sources hope the company might sell the Dead Space franchise after EA sold itself for $55 billion to Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund, Jared Kushner's Affinity Partners, and the private equity firm Silver Lake. The deal could lead to $20 billion in debt. As such, there's speculation EA could auction off Dead Space to help pay off that gigantic amount."
"In October, Dead Space co-creator Glen Schofield revealed that he's made calls about the series. Schofield claims he can save EA up to $40 million on the idea he has for Dead Space. In addition, Schofield--whose background includes The Callisto Protocol and Call of Duty: WWII--believes EA could sell the franchise, too, as he believes it's a prime candidate for a TV show or movie."
EA reportedly has no current plans to develop a new Dead Space sequel, remake, or reboot despite a 2023 remake. Insider sources indicate there is no follow-up planned and some sources hope the company might sell the franchise. EA completed a roughly $55 billion sale to several investors, a deal that could produce around $20 billion in debt, prompting speculation the franchise could be auctioned to help pay liabilities. Dead Space co-creator Glen Schofield has contacted parties about the series, claims he can save EA up to $40 million with his idea, and sees TV or film adaptation potential. A Dead Space-themed bundle later appeared in Skate.
