Defiance, a third-person shooter MMO originally tied to a Syfy series, is making a comeback after shutting down in 2021. Fawkes, a game company dedicated to reviving older games, has acquired the rights to both Defiance and Defiance 2050 and is set to relaunch the original game on PC in April 2025. The company's objective is to reconnect players with the cherished experiences of the game and foster a sense of community by gradually updating the game based on player feedback and nostalgia for the original gameplay.
Fawkes stated, "Even though the TV series was discontinued in 2015 and Gamigo eventually closed the game in 2021, the memories of epic Arkfalls and immersive, post‑apocalyptic battles live on in your hearts."
The relaunch is designed to be a homecoming for those who once fought side by side during legendary Arkfalls, aiming to create new memories with both old and new friends.
