Bethesda, Id Software, and Xbox announced remastered versions of Heretic and Hexen during QuakeCon 2025, fulfilling long-time fan requests. The remasters release includes Heretic: Shadow of the Serpent Riders, Hexen: Beyond Heretic, and Hexen: Deathkings of the Dark Citadel. Developed by NightDive Studios, the collection also features original DOS versions and two new episodes: Heretic: Faith Renewed and Hexen: Vestiges of Grandeur. The collection is available for Xbox, Switch, and PC for $15, with free access on Game Pass for subscribers and existing Steam owners receiving upgrades free of charge.
On August 7, Bethesda released remastered versions of Heretic: Shadow of the Serpent Riders, Hexen: Beyond Heretic, and Hexen: Deathkings of the Dark Citadel without warning.
