"Vampire Survivors has a lot of Castlevania in its DNA. The game originally used a Castlevania-themed asset pack, and in 2024, an official Castlevania expansion was released for the game. Ode to Castlevania was designed to be "an all-out celebration" of the monster-slaying video game series, and it added a ton of new content to Vampire Survivors, including a map full of Easter eggs, secrets, and bosses inspired by the franchise."
Poncle, developer of Vampire Survivors, is creating Vampire Crawlers and acknowledges strong Castlevania influence in its work. Luca Galante would love to make a Castlevania-like metroidvania and would approach Konami for permission to do so. Galante also considered developing a metroidvania using Legacy of the Moonspell or Tides of the Foscari characters and setting to move away from Vampire Survivors. Vampire Survivors originally used a Castlevania-themed asset pack and received a 2024 expansion called Ode to Castlevania, which added maps, Easter eggs, secrets, and franchise-inspired bosses. Vampire Crawlers currently has no release date.
