""The only reason that Call of Duty exists is because EA were dicks,""
""Ridley Scott came in one time--who's a hero of mine--but he's not connected to games,""
""So he'd ask these questions like, 'How do you script what happens?' ... There was a bit of a talk around him doing a Call of Duty film, but we never really took it seriously. Video game movies at that point were never really that good.""
Call of Duty launched in 2003 after Infinity Ward founders departed from EA's Medal of Honor franchise following a conflict. Medal of Honor never matched Call of Duty's success. Infinity Ward partnered with Activision, which later acquired the studio. One co-founder left Infinity Ward in 2010, formed Respawn Entertainment, and later partnered with EA to oversee the Battlefront franchise. Ridley Scott and Steven Spielberg showed interest in adapting Call of Duty for film, but skepticism about video game movies persisted. Paramount later signed a deal with Activision for a Call of Duty movie and potential TV series. Battlefield 6 is performing strongly on Steam ahead of Black Ops 7.
