The announcement of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered coincided with the fan project Skyblivion, aimed at remaking the original Oblivion using Skyrim's engine. Despite the overlap, Bethesda positively recognized TESRenewal by sharing code for the remaster. Skyblivion's Project Lead emphasized the scenario as beneficial for fans, offering them two versions of Oblivion in one year. The remaster is available now across multiple platforms, while Skyblivion's anticipated release is set for 2025, promising more immersive gameplay for fans of the series.
As it became clear that The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered was real and launching soon, Skyblivion Project Lead Rebelzize said, "for the community it's a win-win as you get twice the amount of Oblivion this year."
Rather than issuing a cease and desist for Skyblivion, Bethesda acknowledged the team's work and provided the members of TESRenewal with free codes for the remaster.
