"Battlefield 6 senior combat designer Matthew Nickerson told WellPlayed that the team came up with a new setup they're calling Aim Assist 2.0. "It's an evolution of what we had in Battlefield 2042," Nickerson said, adding that the team is using "real-time" renders in Battlefield 6 to improve aim-assist. "We've really upped the level of consistency and performance across the board. We're going very light with aim assist.""
""We're not adding rotational aim assist; we actually removed snap zoom, which was in 2042, as we believed it was too mechanically heavy. We want to humanize aim assist, as we call it here internally." The goal of aim assist in Battlefield 6 is to simply assist the player, Nickerson said, and not feel like the controls are being taken out of their hands when it switches on."
Battlefield 6 will include aim-assist described as very light, implemented as Aim Assist 2.0 and positioned as an evolution of Battlefield 2042. The system leverages real-time renders to improve consistency and performance across platforms. Rotational aim assist and snap zoom have been removed to avoid mechanically heavy behavior. Activation requires player input so assistance only engages when the player contributes to the action. The design goal emphasizes helping players feel ownership of kills rather than having the system produce outcomes. A battle royale mode is in development with potential late-October availability, and cross-play and new map footage are noted.
