Battlefield 6 Testing Better Footstep Audio, Hit Registration In Short-Notice BF Labs Session
"The test is to gather feedback on "combat improvements" like footstep audio updates that improve distance perception surface definition, and enemy audibility. Network and hit registration changes are also being tested that should result in "more consistent interactions and better responsiveness during close-quarters and higher-intestiy combat. Battlefield Studios also notes that there will be "broader adjustments across key combat systems.""
""In the months ahead, we'll use Battlefield Labs to look at a broader range of early concepts and experimental scenarios that benefit from real player insight," Battlefield Studios stated. "Beyond that, we are preparing future Lab sessions that explore changes to map layouts, pacing, and alternative team compositions such as smaller player counts or vehicle-focused setups.""
A two-hour Battlefield Labs test will run on December 2 from 4–6 PM PT on PC, previewing a December 9 Battlefield 6 update. The test will use the Conquest and Escalation versions of Eastwood and Operation Firestorm to gather feedback on combat improvements, including footstep audio updates to improve distance perception, surface definition, and enemy audibility. Network and hit registration changes aim for more consistent interactions and better responsiveness in close-quarters and high-intensity combat. Participation requires prior sign-up and an NDA and access via the EA app or Steam. More short-notice sessions and larger playtests are planned for future experiments.
