"Ubisoft announced the expansion to celebrate the second anniversary of the game. During the Valley of Memory reveal stream, it was disclosed that this DLC will add around six hours of gameplay and story as Basim discovers that his father may still be alive. To find him, Basim has to journey to AlUla, an ancient valley that is overflowing with thieves and dangerous men."
"Valley of Memory was reportedly funded and backed by Savvy Games, which is owned by the government of Saudi Arabia. That country's human rights violations and other controversies haven't stopped Saudi Arabia from investing in several video game companies, including Nintendo and the recent purchase of Pokemon Go dev Niantic's video game division. Saudi Arabian investors are also purchasing EA in a $55 billion deal that will take the gaming publisher into private ownership."
Ubisoft will release free DLC expansion Assassin's Creed Mirage: Valley of Memory on November 18, adding roughly six hours of gameplay focused on Basim searching for his possibly living father in AlUla. The expansion introduces a main quest, new assassination missions, side quests, and collectible music sheets that unlock oud performances through parkour challenges. Ubisoft teases a unique twist on the series' black box missions. The update also improves parkour, adds replayable missions and challenges, two new difficulty levels, and expanded skill and tool customization. The expansion was reportedly funded by Savvy Games, owned by the government of Saudi Arabia.
