Marc-Alexis Côté left Ubisoft after roughly 20 years and three years as vice president and executive producer of Assassin's Creed. Côté says he remained at his post until Ubisoft asked him to step aside and that he did not "make that choice" to leave the series. Ubisoft created a subsidiary named Vantage Studios to oversee Assassin's Creed, Rainbow Six, and Far Cry and decided to transfer Assassin's Creed leadership to it. A different position offered to Côté did not carry the same scope, mandate, or continuity. Côté helped launch Assassin's Creed Shadows earlier this year, and leaks suggest a Switch 2 port in December. Ubisoft reportedly canceled an Assassin's Creed game set during the American Civil War over controversy concerns.
