Christoph Hartmann is leaving Amazon Game Studios after leading its range of studios since joining in 2018. Hartmann co-founded 2K Games and served as its president through 2017. Amazon's game efforts failed to produce a lasting hit, with projects like Relentless Studios' 2020 shooter Crucible canceled months after release. New World will go offline in January 2027. The company shifted away from AAA development amid massive cuts last fall and has not confirmed the status of a Lord of the Rings MMO, while remaining slated to publish upcoming Tomb Raider titles. Amazon's main gaming focus now appears to be the Luna cloud platform and party-style games.
