Manhattan muggers beat, slash victims in two back-to-back attempted robberies
A group of suspects carried out two daylight robbery attacks in Washington Heights on May 7 near W. 186 Street and Laurel Hill Terrace. At 3:20 p.m., five people surrounded a 21-year-old man, snatched his cellphone, and after he confronted them, one attacker slashed him with a knife while others punched and kicked him. The suspects fled westbound on West 187th Street. Just over two hours later, around 5:40 p.m., two suspects approached a 44-year-old woman from behind, one used a knife and grabbed her cellphone, and the other punched her multiple times. The suspects fled northbound on Amsterdam Avenue. EMS treated both victims, and police released surveillance photos; no arrests were made.
