Major new Windows 11 update redesigns the Start menu - what you need to know
"First up, the All section appears directly on the main page of the Start menu rather than as a separate area you have to select to access. The All section is also scrollable, so you can simply move down the screen to see all your apps. Instead of limiting you to an alphabetical list of installed apps, the new menu lets you switch between category view and grid view."
"With category view, your apps are placed into folders that try to organize them based on type. With grid view, your apps go back to being listed alphabetically, but with more horizontal space, so you can better view them. Choose one view or the other, and the Start menu will remember your choice. The overhauled menu also adapts to your screen size."
Windows 11 Insiders receive an update that redesigns the Start menu to place the All apps section directly on the main page and make it scrollable for easier navigation. The Start menu now supports category view, grouping apps into type-based folders, and grid view, listing apps alphabetically with more horizontal space; the menu remembers the selected view. The overhauled menu adapts to screen size to show more pinned apps on larger displays. The update also introduces changes to File Explorer, including a recommended files area, and implements taskbar enhancements aimed at faster, smoother app access.
