Zelenskyy's new outfit was not a response to difficult first White House visit, says designer
Briefly

Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy received praise for his formal attire during a meeting, but the outfit was not the main concern for designer Viktor Anisimov. Zelenskyy has favored military-style clothing since the Russian invasion, signifying solidarity with his citizens. Criticized for previous casual attire, he indicated he would don a suit only after the war concludes. Anisimov clarified that the new wardrobe direction began prior to the meeting, aiming to shift Zelenskyy's image to a more civilian style while maintaining military elements.
It's not about the suit, it's about what happens to Ukraine, Anisimov told Womenswear Daily, speaking through an interpreter before the meeting.
I will wear [a suit] after the war is finished, Zelenskyy replied, emphasizing his commitment to representing Ukraine during its struggle.
Anisimov noted that Zelenskyy's new look had not been designed in response to the first White House meeting, indicating a prior plan for the president's wardrobe.
He told the Wall Street Journal that he was gradually shifting the president's image towards a more civilian style, while still preserving the military reference.
