Woman shot dead by ICE in Minneapolis as mayor demands agents leave the city after 'causing chaos'

"The US Department of Homeland Security said the person shot dead had "weaponised" their vehicle, according to DHS spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin."

""There's been lots of ICE activity but nothing like this," de Mars said. "I'm so angry. I'm so angry, and I feel helpless.""

DHS stated the person shot dead had allegedly weaponised their vehicle, and a DHS spokeswoman reported that an ICE officer fired defensive shots while fearing for life and public safety. The shooting occurred amid a large-scale immigration surge and heightened federal immigration enforcement in Minneapolis. Mayor Jacob Frey criticized the federal presence, demanded ICE leave the city, and expressed solidarity with immigrant and refugee communities. Federal agents were recently deployed following allegations of fraud involving Somali immigrants. A dark SUV with a bullet hole and blood was found crashed into a pole, and a nearby resident described paramedics performing CPR and expressed anger and helplessness.
