White House Feuds With Jack White Over 'Gaudy' Trump Decor
Briefly

Jack White posted a photo of President Trump and Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy in the Oval Office and criticized the heavy gold decor as vulgar and gaudy. White described Trump as a conman with disgusting taste and called the scene an embarrassment to American history. White House communications director Steven Cheung publicly attacked White, calling him a washed-up has-been and defending the Oval Office decor as significant to the People's House. White has a history of criticizing Trump and previously filed, then dropped, a lawsuit over use of a White Stripes song.
Celebrities say negative things about the Trump administration all the time and there's often no official White House response. But when musician Jack White dared to insult President Trump's Oval Office décor, saying, "It's now a vulgar, gold-leafed, and gaudy professional wrestler's dressing room," it wound up setting off a days-long fight between the former White Stripes front man and White House communications director Steven Cheung.
Cheung unloaded when asked for comment by the Daily Beast. "Jack White is a washed-up, has-been loser posting drivel on social media because he clearly has ample time on his hands due to his stalled career," he said. Cheung also knocked the musician for failing to appreciate Trump's decorating skills. "It's apparent he's been masquerading as a real artist, because he fails to appreciate, and quite frankly disrespects, the splendor and significance of the Oval Office inside of 'the People's House,'" he added.
