White House Clashes With Jack White After Using His Song to Promote Deportation

The Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Border Patrol posted a Father's Day video using The White Stripes' song "We're Going to Be Friends" under footage of a Border Patrol agent riding an ATV while a child praises her father as a "superhero." The child narrates that he "rides his ATV in the desert with Border Patrol" and "helps keep our communities safe." Jack White has publicly criticized President Donald Trump, calling him an "obvious fascist" and a "wannabe dictator," and condemned the White House redecorating as "vulgar, gold leafed and gaudy." A White House spokesperson called White a "washed up, has-been loser," and White retaliated with a profane message directed at "MAGA folk."

"Look at how disgusting Trump has transformed the historic White House," White wrote in an Instagram post under a photo of Trump's meeting with Ukraine president Volodymyr Zelensky in the Oval Office. "It's now a vulgar, gold leafed and gaudy, professional wrestler's dressing room."
