Dearborn Mayor Abdullah H. Hammoud publicly rebuked resident Edward Barham during a city council meeting after Barham questioned naming a street for Osama Siblani. Hammoud called Barham a bigot, racist and Islamophobe, told him he was not welcome and said he would celebrate the day Barham moved out. Osama Siblani, publisher of The Arab American News, has made pro-Hamas and pro-Hezbollah comments, including saying Hezbollah would "take care of the job against Israel" and calling those groups "freedom fighters" in 2003. Dearborn became the first Arab-majority city in America in 2023. A clip of the exchange went viral, drawing millions of views and criticism from conservative commentators.
