President Donald Trump repeated a claim that he warned about Osama bin Laden before the September 11 attacks while speaking to Navy personnel in Norfolk, Virginia. Trump credited U.S. Navy SEALs for killing bin Laden and said he had written about bin Laden a year before the World Trade Center attacks. Trump accused the media of refusing to credit that warning. CNN noted that Trump's January 2000 book, The America We Deserve, mentioned bin Laden once but did not call for his killing or identify him or al Qaeda as the likely perpetrator of a future major attack.
