To commemorate the 100th day of President Trump's second term, MeidasTouch hosted a virtual town hall with Democratic governors Maura Healey, J.B. Pritzker, Tim Walz, and Kathy Hochul. The governors expressed their strong criticism of Trump's policies, particularly in immigration and the economy. Healey, previously active in litigation against Trump during his first term, emphasized increased alarm regarding the current administration. She highlighted the successes of state attorneys general in holding Trump accountable and stressed the importance of governors in protecting citizens' rights.
"This administration is far worse than what we saw with Trump one," Healey said during her opening remarks.
"I know the work that the attorneys general did in Trump one was so important. We were successful over 85% of those cases, and this group of AGs is having the same success holding him accountable in the courts," Healey said.
"This is why governors matter, because we're on the front lines right now. We want to make sure that people's rights are protected," she added.
The hour-long discussion gave the governors plenty of opportunity to rail against Trump for his economic policies, immigration enforcement, and more.
