Thousands gathered on Portland Avenue near 34th Street in south Minneapolis after an ICE officer shot and killed 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good in her car. Candles, flowers and whistles filled the snowy crash site. The killing became a rallying cry against President Donald Trump's mass deportation campaign and the deployment of heavily armed, masked federal officers in select cities. Protesters chanted against the federal presence and called for prosecution of the agent who shot Good. The incident reopened wounds from the 2020 murder of George Floyd less than a mile away. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said Good "weaponized her vehicle" and "attempted to run a law enforcement officer over."
