"deploying more special operations to control the scene"
"reinforcements were on their way."
President Trump authorized deployment of 300 National Guard troops to Chicago to protect federal officers and assets amid protests and immigration enforcement actions. The deployment follows earlier National Guard and federal troop movements to Washington DC, Los Angeles and Memphis and threats to send forces to other cities. DHS Secretary Kristi Noem said she was deploying special operations and that reinforcements were on their way. Illinois Governor JB Pritzker said the president gave an ultimatum to deploy the Illinois National Guard and condemned the demand as outrageous and un-American.
