The Trump administration demanded the NYPD crack down on an organized and unlawful campaign of harassment against staffers at the US Mission to the United Nations and threatened federal law enforcement deployment if local action was not taken. The letter from regional security Craig Goldstein described protesters regularly and aggressively approaching USUN staff with obscenities and threatening labels. The letter requested immediate additional NYPD measures to address harassment, impediment, and intimidation of officers and employees. Goldstein cited incidents of protesters following and swarming staff, screaming in their faces, honking air horns, potential permit violations, and recording staff entering and exiting the office.
