University President Elected Lt. Gov. of New Jersey
"Every single day of this campaign has been a reminder of what a special place New Jersey is,"
"I'm humbled and honored to be your next Lieutenant Governor."
"Centenary University would like to congratulate Gov. Elect Mikie Sherrill and Lt. Gov. Elect Dale Caldwell, Ed.D., on their victory in the recent New Jersey gubernatorial election,"
Dale Caldwell, president of Centenary University since 2023, won the New Jersey lieutenant governor race as running mate to Mikie Sherrill with 56 percent to 43 percent. Caldwell has served on Centenary's board and is a pastor at Covenant United Methodist Church in Plainfield. Caldwell was the university's first Black president and will become New Jersey's first Black man to serve as lieutenant governor in January. Centenary University issued a congratulatory statement on the election outcome. Centenary officials have not announced who will serve as interim president or plans for finding a permanent replacement when Caldwell departs.
