A Stockton University poll of 705 voting-age New Jersey residents finds the governor's race in a near tie with one month until Election Day. Taxation is the top issue and 67% are at least somewhat dissatisfied with the economy, including 44% who are very dissatisfied. Twenty percent say their family's financial situation is better than a year ago, 39% say worse, and 39% say about the same. In the first debate, Mikie Sherrill blamed Trump, the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, and tariffs for rising costs, while Jack Ciattarelli blamed long-standing Democratic control and high taxes. About 58% say the country is headed in the wrong direction.
