Turkiye detains four over cartoon allegedly depicting Abrahamic prophets
Briefly

The Istanbul chief public prosecutor's office is conducting an investigation into charges of openly insulting religious values related to a cartoon published by LeMan. The image reportedly depicted Prophet Muhammad and Prophet Moses shaking hands amidst a backdrop of missile attacks. Following government and religious backlash, police arrested cartoonist Dogan Pehlevan and three other magazine staff members. The Justice Minister confirmed the investigation under Article 216 of the Turkish Penal Code. LeMan has apologized for offending readers while defending their intent behind the cartoon, claiming it was misinterpreted.
I strongly condemn the shameless caricaturing of our Prophet. This is not press freedom. These provocative acts, which insult our sacred values, deeply hurt Muslim consciences.
The cartoon was misinterpreted. Pehlevan aimed to highlight the suffering of a Muslim man killed in Israeli attacks and denied any attempt to mock Islam.
