Trump Went on Profanity-Laced Rant' at Susan Collins in Angry Phone Call: Report
"He called her and then basically read her the riot act, one Republican senator anonymously told The Hill, saying the president went on a profanity-laced rant."
"This Vote greatly hampers American Self Defense and National Security, impeding the President's Authority as Commander in Chief, Trump claimed. In any event, and despite their stupidity,' the War Powers Act is Unconstitutional, totally violating Article II of the Constitution, as all Presidents, and their Departments of Justice, have determined before me. Nevertheless, a more important Senate Vote will be taking place next week on this very subject."
"A Collins spokesperson confirmed to The Hill that the call occurred, but declined to comment further."
Five Republicans joined all 47 Democrats to advance legislation requiring congressional approval before further U.S. military action in Venezuela after the United States invaded and abducted President Nicolas Maduro. Sen. Susan Collins was among the Republicans who voted for the measure; Sens. Lisa Murkowski, Rand Paul, Josh Hawley, and Todd Young also supported advancing the resolution. President Donald Trump phoned Collins, reportedly berated her in a profanity-laced call, and criticized the vote publicly on Truth Social, calling the War Powers Act unconstitutional and saying the resolution impeded presidential authority. Collins confirmed the call but declined further comment. Collins is running for reelection.
