Trump Wants to Win the Nobel Peace Prize. He's About to Make Two Wars Worse.
Briefly

Trump has expressed a desire for a Nobel Peace Prize while simultaneously exacerbating conflicts and undermining U.S. global standing. Recently, Trump endorsed Israel's plan to occupy Gaza, which was approved by Netanyahu's security Cabinet. His non-committal response to a journalist inquiries signaled support for Israel's actions, despite potential backlash and opposition from military leaders. In contrast, Trump imposes trade tariffs and issues threats to other nations, revealing a stark double standard in U.S. foreign policy, especially regarding nations where he has political interests or connections.
Trump has given his signal the day before when a journalist asked him whether Israel should carry out the plan and Trump replied, 'That's going to be pretty much up to Israel.'
Netanyahu is one of the few leaders over whom Trump does have some leverage. If he'd said, 'No, that would be a big mistake' and repeated the message privately, the prime minister would almost certainly have held back.
The double standard is staggering. Trump and his crew have no hesitation trying to dictate what's in many other countries' interests.
He imposed a 50 percent tariff on Brazil for arresting its former president—a friend and political ally of Trump's—on charges of attempting a coup.
