President Donald Trump told reporters in the Oval Office that he would vigorously defend Finland if Russia were to invade the NATO ally. He called Finland a NATO member and said he did not expect an invasion, citing low chances. He praised Finland's relatively large and powerful military for its size, calling it one of the best. Finnish President Alexander Stubb noted ongoing joint training with American soldiers in Arctic conditions, the integration of militaries, and cooperation under the Defense Cooperation Agreement and other mechanisms. Stubb said the training provides experience and that the U.S.-Finnish cooperation is working well.
