The U.S. has threatened increased tariffs on India due to its significant purchases of Russian oil and subsequent resale for profit. Trump has expressed frustration with India for its role in financing Russia’s war efforts in Ukraine. The latest trade measures include a 25% tariff imposed last Thursday, although future increases in tariffs remain unspecified. Indian sources indicate that the country plans to continue its Russian oil transactions despite the sanctions threat from the U.S.
India is not only buying massive amounts of Russian Oil, they are then, for much of the Oil purchased, selling it on the Open Market for big profits.
Because of this, I will be substantially raising the Tariff paid by India to the USA.
The White House did not immediately return a request for comment.
India intends to keep buying Russian oil despite the sanctions threat.
