The USS Gerald R. Ford is sailing to the Caribbean and will need three to four weeks to arrive. The Ford will join the USS Abraham Lincoln carrier strike group, which includes fighter jets, Tomahawk missiles and several ships. President Trump decided to send the Ford after meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and had signaled the possibility of a second carrier earlier. Trump and Netanyahu agreed to continue putting pressure on Iran while negotiations proceed. Netanyahu insisted any agreement must address ballistic missiles and Iranian proxies as well as the nuclear issue. Trump said he wants a deal within a month.
