President Donald Trump is sending 300 California National Guard members to Oregon following a federal judge's temporary block on deploying that guard to Portland. California Gov. Gavin Newsom pledged to challenge the deployment in court and called the move a breathtaking abuse of law and power. Oregon Gov. Tina Kotek said 101 California guardsmen arrived by plane and that there was no formal communication with the federal government. Portland police and the California National Guard referred questions to the Defense Department. Kotek stated there is no insurrection and no need for military intervention.
