President Donald Trump threatened the death penalty for Democratic lawmakers who told US military members they could refuse illegal orders. Six Democrats with prior military or intelligence service released a video saying the administration was pitting service members against the American people and threatening constitutional principles. Senator Mark Kelly told service personnel they can refuse illegal orders, and Senator Elissa Slotkin urged them not to give up the ship. Trump called the lawmakers' remarks seditious and demanded punishment. A White House spokeswoman disputed a literal call for executions. Democrats condemned the threats and vowed to defend the Constitution.
