Antifa is a decentralized, leaderless movement opposed to fascism and loosely defined as far-left. Antifa can use direct-action protest tactics, and the ADL notes some extreme actors who claim affiliation engage in violence or vandalism at rallies and events, but that is not the norm. Trump told reporters he would consider designating Antifa a domestic terrorist organization and said he would do so "100%," calling Antifa "terrible." He said he will strongly recommend that those funding Antifa be thoroughly investigated in accordance with the highest legal standards and practices. The White House and DOJ did not immediately respond to requests for comment. During the prior administration, the DOJ used FBI Joint Terrorism Task Forces to identify organizers and instigators of violence at protests, including alleged Antifa involvement.
