"For those that did nothing but complain, and took time off, even though everyone knew they would be paid, IN FULL, shortly into the future, I am NOT HAPPY WITH YOU,"
"GREAT PATRIOTS"
"recommending a BONUS of $10,000 per person for distinguished service to our Country."
"You will have a negative mark, at least in my mind, against your record,"
President Donald Trump criticized air traffic controllers who called in sick during the government shutdown and warned of negative marks on their records. He praised controllers who did not take time off as "GREAT PATRIOTS" and said he would be recommending a $10,000 bonus per person for distinguished service. Controllers and many other federal workers have been working without pay since the shutdown began on October 1. Widespread sick calls by controllers contributed to flight delays and cancellations. Trump told those who wished to leave to do so without severance. House Speaker Mike Johnson said controllers are overworked, unpaid, and facing family-related stress.
