When pressed to explain how dedicating time, energy and resources to foreign policy aligns with America First, President Donald Trump gave a rambling reply that did not answer the question and pivoted to Middle East policy. He said the region was chaotic when he took office, claimed he achieved peace there that many thought impossible, and cited wealthy countries like Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the UAE resuming economic activity. He said oil supplies and regional commerce had been hurt but now improved, described Gaza's death and destruction as cleaned up, and warned of remaining militants such as Hamas and Hezbollah.
