He argued his father was not a king, citing electoral and popular-vote victories and control of seven swing states. Trump Jr. suggested a king would have reopened the government, never left office, avoided prosecutions, and prevented assassination attempts. The president encouraged a mob of supporters who violently invaded the Capitol and attacked police in an attempt to overturn the 2020 election.
