A brief escalator stoppage at United Nations headquarters interrupted President Trump and the First Lady as they ascended to speak. President Trump posted on Truth Social describing the stoppage and called it a disgrace, citing other technical problems during the visit. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt demanded that anyone responsible be fired and investigated and said the incident did not look like a coincidence. UN staff had joked about turning off escalators and elevators or claiming budget shortfalls. President Trump also accused the UN of promoting a globalist migration agenda and of enabling threats to the West, while his policies and funding cuts have strained UN humanitarian efforts.
