Trump expresses openness to talks with Venezuela's Maduro DW 11/18/2025
""At a certain period of time, I'll be talking to him," Trump told reporters in the Oval Office."
""No, I don't rule out that, I don't rule out anything.''"
""This country will continue to be at peace, and in the United States, anyone who wants to talk to Venezuela will talk face-to-face, without any problem," Maduro said."
President Donald Trump said he was willing to talk with Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro while declining to rule out deploying US troops to Venezuela. Trump said he would speak to Maduro "at a certain period of time" and stated he did not rule out military action, arguing the US must "take care of Venezuela" and claiming migrants had been "dumped" into the country from prisons. Maduro said he was ready to talk face-to-face and insisted the country would remain at peace. The US has increased troop deployments in the Caribbean citing drug trafficking, carried out strikes on suspected Venezuelan drug boats that have caused deaths, accused Maduro of leading a "terrorist" drug cartel which he denies, and since September US forces have killed at least 83 people in such strikes according to an AFP tally; the US has not publicly provided evidence for the allegations.
