Trump Designates Fentanyl an Official Weapon of Mass Destruction' Says Drug Causes More Damage Than Any Bomb
"President Donald Trump said he was signing an executive order that officially designated fentanyl as a weapon of mass destruction, saying the drug is more potent and damaging than any bomb. The announcement, made during a press conference at the White House on Monday, comes as the president's administration has waged its own war on drugs by striking more than 20 boats filled with narco-terrorists, as President Trump has called them, in recent months."
"Trump said he believed over the last half-decade that fentanyl has killed between 200,000 and 300,000 people per year; he said reports are the drug has killed around 100,000 annually, but the true figure is much higher. He said fentanyl and other popular street drugs have destroyed countless American families, which he said spurred him to sign his latest executive order."
President Trump signed an executive order classifying fentanyl as a weapon of mass destruction, calling the drug more potent and damaging than any bomb. The administration struck more than 20 boats filled with alleged narco-terrorists, killing about 90 people and prompting accusations of war crimes and extrajudicial killings. Trump claimed fentanyl deaths number 200,000–300,000 per year, far above reported roughly 100,000, and said the drugs have destroyed countless American families. He awarded medals to 13 service members for southern border protection. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, who has overseen 22 strikes since September, praised the actions. Trump warned he may attack drug dealers on land as well as at sea.
