"I'm speaking with President Xi, as you know, on Friday, having to do with TikTok and also trade,"
"And we're very close to deals on all of it."
"very good"
President Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping held a call on Friday beginning around 8 a.m. Washington time to negotiate a deal aimed at allowing TikTok to continue operating in the United States. The negotiations include conditions requiring the Chinese parent company to sell a controlling stake to avoid a U.S. ban. The call could determine whether the leaders meet in person to resolve the broader trade war and clarify bilateral relations. This followed a June conversation about China's rare-earth export restrictions. Trump said relations are "very good" and indicated he was close to deals on TikTok and trade.
