The cancellations are part of over $28 billion nationwide, with $27.24 billion affecting Democrat-controlled districts and $738 million affecting Republican-controlled districts, according to the Department of Energy. Congressional District 12 experienced the largest Bay Area grant losses, affecting higher education, infrastructure and job training funding.
