Tommy Tiernan, a popular candidate in a recent poll, clarified that he has never considered a run for the presidency, emphasizing his admiration for outgoing President Michael D. Higgins. In an interview, Tiernan expressed his natural curiosity, which serves him well on his show, but he insists he wouldn't be able to balance a chat show and presidential duties. He acknowledged the importance of showing respect for Higgins' significant contributions during his fourteen years in office and highlighted the need for gratitude towards his leadership.
I'm too young...and my feeling is that we're all aware of his morality, his fearlessness in the stands that he has taken, his gift as an orator and his integrity.
It will be important to seriously and respectfully acknowledge the brilliance of his presidency and to say thank you. I don't know who the runners and riders are for the next one.
