Legislation was introduced to formally recognize that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza and to call for concrete U.S. actions such as an arms embargo. The resolution invokes U.S. obligations under the UN Genocide Convention, seeks an end to military assistance to Israel, and demands compliance with proceedings at the Hague and removal of U.S. sanctions on the International Criminal Court. The measure calls for targeted sanctions on Israeli entities and individuals involved in or enabling the genocide and requests investigation and prosecution of U.S. officials complicit in the violence. The resolution had 20 House cosponsors, including a progressive caucus leader.
