Eli Purdy, 22, a transgender final-semester illustration student and MN50501 activist, was charged with unlawful assembly after police kettled the crowd as protesters tried to leave. Officers told protesters the sidewalk and adjacent areas were private property before encircling the block and declaring arrests. Nearly 3,000 federal agents were deployed to Minnesota under Operation Metro Surge. ICE and DHS raids connected to the operation resulted in fatal shootings of Renee Nicole Good and Alex Pretti.
