The East Wing will be demolished to make way for a new ballroom for President Donald Trump. Construction plans reportedly evolved after architects and construction companies advised demolition was necessary to achieve a modern, durable, and long-lasting structure. Renderings previously released indicated an intention to modernize the East Wing. Officials state the demolition and phased construction aim to produce a stronger, more secure, and more beautiful East Wing. Offices displaced by the work, including the First Lady's and the Social Secretary's offices, are expected to be returned to their original locations once the project is complete.
